QUETTA: Security forces killed 11 militants in three intelligence-based operations in Balochistan on Monday, officials said.
Four militants were killed in an intelligence-based operation in a mountainous area along the Ziarat-Harnai border. Security forces acted on intelligence about militants hiding in an abandoned house.
Troops surrounded the building and targeted the militants. Four terrorists were killed in the operation. A search and sanitisation operation was underway in the area.
Earlier, security forces killed seven militants in separate operations in Mastung and Basima.
In Mastung, troops killed five militants after receiving intelligence about the presence of Indian-sponsored militants. The operation was conducted under Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-3.
Security forces used a quadcopter to strike identified militant positions before engaging the militants on the ground. Troops also recovered a large quantity of weapons and ammunition.
In another operation near Basima, security forces killed two militants in the Killi Zaiq area.
Officials identified one of those killed as Mushtaq Ahmed, alias Kohyar. They described him as a high-value militant linked to Fitna al-Hindustan.
Three other militants were wounded in the operation. Troops recovered ammunition, hand grenades and material used to manufacture improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Security forces launched a follow-up search operation to locate any remaining militants.
The latest operations came a day after security forces killed seven militants in Lajay area of Kharan district. Several other militants were also wounded in that operation, officials said.
Security forces operation in Balochistan intensifies
Pakistan launched Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-3 in response to a series of terrorist attacks. The campaign involves the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps, police and intelligence agencies.
Security forces are conducting intelligence-based operations and targeted raids across Balochistan to disrupt militant networks and prevent further attacks.
The campaign is targeting militant groups, including the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which Pakistani authorities refer to as Fitna al-Khawarij, and the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), which Pakistan refers to as Fitna al-Hindustan.
Security operations will continue until the militant threat is eliminated, officials said.
