HYDERABAD: A man who lay motionless in a lake in India for nearly five hours was mistaken for dead before police were called, only to suddenly wake up the moment an officer touched him.
According to Indian media reports, locals in Hanumakonda, Telangana, spotted a man lying completely still in the water for a long time and assumed he was a corpse, prompting them to alert the police.
When officers arrived at the scene and attempted to pull the perceived body out of the water, the man suddenly stirred and sat up, shocking everyone present.

Upon questioning, the man explained that he works at a nearby granite quarry and was suffering from severe exhaustion due to continuous work.
According to him, he had entered the water to find relief from the heat and fatigue, where he fell into such a deep sleep that he remained asleep there for hours.
