STORMONT: Afghanistan qualify for 2027 World Cup after beating Ireland by seven wickets in the third ODI at Stormont.
Afghanistan beat Ireland to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the five-match series and secure direct qualification for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia will host the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
Afghanistan won the toss at Civil Service Cricket Club in Stormont and put Ireland in to bat.
Ireland made 206 runs in 46.3 overs before losing all their wickets.
AM Ghazanfar and Rashid Khan took three wickets each. Yamin Ahmadzai claimed two. Fazalhaq Farooqi and Azmatullah Omarzai took one wicket each.
Gavin Hoey top-scored for Ireland with 36 runs. Cade Carmichael made 32, Jai Mondre scored 31 and captain Paul Stirling added 23.
Afghanistan chased down the target of 207 in 44.5 overs. They lost three wickets in the process.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz led the chase with 71 off 77 balls. He hit two fours and five sixes.
Rashid Khan finished the match unbeaten on 37. He guided Afghanistan to victory in the closing stages.
Sediqullah Atal scored 27, while Hashmatullah Shahidi made 22.

Hoey took four wickets for 34 runs for Ireland. His effort, however, could not prevent defeat.
