Bogotá: A catastrophic earthquake in Colombia has resulted in the deaths of 47 people and caused severe damage to property.
According to foreign media reports, the 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck South America, destroying city airports and reducing 20 buildings to rubble.
Hundreds of people are reported trapped under the debris, raising fears that the death toll may rise.
Rescue operations are underway at a fast pace, and emergencies have been declared in hospitals.
It is worth noting that previously, a severe earthquake in the neighboring South American country of Venezuela had resulted in the deaths of over ten thousand people.
