ISLAMABAD : Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Salman Akram Raja has warned against any major constitutional or political changes in the country until transparent elections are held, asserting that the current parliament and provincial assemblies do not represent the true will of the people.
Addressing the media, Raja acknowledged that while discussions regarding the creation of new provinces could take place, no significant decisions should be implemented before genuine representatives come to the assemblies through a credible electoral process. He described the existing system as “artificial,” claiming it was established through a fraudulent election.
Raja further stressed that no major decision should be made without consulting the PTI founder, including him in the process and securing his consent. He reiterated that his party’s primary demand remains the medical treatment of the PTI founder, his transfer to a hospital, and his eventual release. He also called for all cases against him to be dropped and his role in national politics to be formally recognized.
On the political front, Raja declared that the protest call for September 27 would not be a one-day affair. “We will have to come out of our homes,” he said, adding that revolution is not brought by political parties alone but by the entire nation. He urged the masses to actively support the movement.
Separately, the jail superintendent has denied allegations that Bushra Bibi, the former first lady, is being kept in solitary confinement.
