ISLAMABAD: Pakistani taekwondo athlete Ahsan Mahsood won the gold medal at an international taekwondo championship held in Thailand, delivering another major achievement for the country’s combat sports.
Mahsood began his campaign with a victory over a Kazakh opponent in the opening round.
He then defeated an Indian competitor in the semifinal to advance to the title match.
In the final, Mahsood beat his Sri Lankan opponent to claim the gold medal and secure Pakistan’s top podium finish at the tournament.
