LAHORE: Police in Lahore have solved the high-profile murder case of an American woman and her three children in the Kahna area.
According to DIG Investigations Syed Zeeshan Raza, the mother, Aleena, was herself the prime suspect and mastermind behind the tragedy.
Suffering from severe depression and searching online for suicide methods since November, she ordered potassium cyanide online from a chemical shop owner, having it delivered to a friend’s house.
On July 17, she mixed the lethal chemical into ice cream, fed it to her children—Rehan (15), Arisha (11), and Arsal (9)—and consumed it herself, while also attempting to poison her husband, Nasir.
Investigators confirmed through forensic reports and a polygraph test that the husband was innocent.
Police have arrested two accomplices, including the chemical shop owner and an online delivery rider, while the FBI also coordinated with local authorities given the family’s American citizenship.
