Petition Accepted Against Removal of Kalat Division’s Name

Petition Accepted Removal of Kalat Division's Historic Name

KALAT: In a major milestone for the movement to restore the historic name of the Kalat Division, the Balochistan High Court in Quetta held its preliminary hearing on a constitutional petition challenging the abolition of the division’s historic and constitutional title.

Finding merit in the legal and constitutional arguments presented, the High Court formally admitted the petition for regular hearing and issued official notices to the Government of Balochistan and other respondents.

Legal representatives emphasized that Kalat is not merely a geographical boundary, but a profound historical heritage, national pride, and constitutional identity for millions of Baloch people worldwide.

They noted that Article 28 of the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees every citizen and region the full right to preserve its historical and cultural identity.

Prominent lawyers present during the hearing included Advocate Habibullah Khan, Advocate Zahoor Ahmed Sasoli, Advocate Asif Ali Dad, and Advocate Junaid Ahmed Umrani.

Expressing gratitude to the legal fraternity, friends, and supporters, leaders of the movement affirmed that this intellectual and legal struggle will continue within the framework of the law and the Constitution until the historic identity of Kalat is completely restored.
