PESHAWAR: In a brazen display of militant tactics, terrorists launched a drone attack on the Spinawella police post in the Hassan Khel area of Peshawar, injuring three police personnel, officials confirmed on Saturday.
According to security sources, the assailants used a modern quadcopter to target the police facility, marking an escalation in the use of unmanned aerial systems by militant groups in the region. The strike wounded Constable Niaz Amin, Constable Dawood, and Constable Ziaullah, who were immediately rushed to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) for emergency medical care. Hospital sources said all three are currently receiving treatment and are under observation.
Following the incident, security was swiftly tightened across the surrounding area, and police along with other law enforcement agencies launched a comprehensive search operation to track down those responsible.
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Peshawar, Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmed, personally visited Lady Reading Hospital to check on the injured personnel. He met with the wounded officers and their families, assuring them of full support and directing the medical staff to ensure the best possible care.
Speaking to media at the hospital, CCPO Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmed struck a defiant tone, stating, “The Capital City Police is a force consisting of brave and dutiful officers. The cowardly actions of terrorists cannot demoralize us.” He reaffirmed that counter-terrorism operations would continue with even greater effectiveness, vowing that “the elements hostile to peace will be brought to justice in any case.”
It is worth noting that this is not the first attempt on the Hassan Khel police station. Sources recall that militants had previously tried to attack the same facility, but that assault was successfully foiled due to timely and effective action by police forces at the time. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as the search operation continues.
