NEW YORK: At the United Nations Security Council, Pakistan delivered a strong rebuttal to India, declaring that India’s lectures on peace are absurd and that Jammu and Kashmir is neither an integral part of India nor an internal matter.
Saima Saleem, Counselor at Pakistan’s UN Mission, stated that India itself brought the Kashmir issue to the Security Council and is now backtracking from its resolutions while oppression and human rights violations persist in Indian-occupied Kashmir.
She emphasized that India’s denial cannot alter the international status of the dispute.
Addressing other grievances, she termed India’s decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty a violation of international law, asserting that the waters of the Indus River are a source of life rather than a weapon of war.
Furthermore, the Pakistani counselor highlighted that India-linked terrorism networks have expanded globally, and that Hindutva ideology within India has turned Islamophobia into a state policy.
