QUETTA : Commissioner Quetta Division Shahzeb Ka Kurd and Deputy Commissioner Quetta Mehrullah Badini held a crucial meeting with a delegation representing the Young Doctors Association (YDA) Balochistan, Pakistan Medical Association (Quetta Zone), and Allied Health Organization at the Commissioner’s Office here on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner discussed the prevailing provincial situation, the fragile law and order conditions, and the difficulties being faced by the public. They strongly appealed to the doctors’ bodies to call off their ongoing protest and restore all medical facilities, including Outpatient Departments (OPD), in government hospitals across the province.
The Commissioner assured the delegation that serious and effective efforts would be made to resolve their demands by playing a proactive mediator’s role between the government and the doctors’ community.
The delegation was represented by Dr. Hai Baloch, President of Young Doctors Association Balochistan; Dr. Nadir Baloch, President of Pakistan Medical Association (Quetta Zone); and Jamal Shah Kakar, President of Allied Health Organization, along with their colleagues.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Hai Baloch acknowledged that the Young Doctors Association was fully aware of the ongoing law and order situation in Balochistan, the continuing sit-in in Ziarat, the grief of the martyrs’ families, and the dire need for medical facilities for the people during these difficult circumstances.
“In respect of these exceptional circumstances and the special request of the Commissioner Quetta Division, the Young Doctors Association Balochistan announces to temporarily postpone its protest and fully restore all medical services including OPD in all government hospitals across Balochistan from tomorrow,” Dr. Hai Baloch declared.
However, he made it clear that the association had not given up on its demands in any way. “All our demands remain intact, and the protest has been postponed only in view of the difficulties faced by the people and the current exceptional circumstances,” he emphasized.
The YDA president issued a stern warning to the Balochistan government, stating that if practical progress and effective implementation of their legitimate demands were not made immediately after the end of the Ziarat martyrs’ sit-in, the organization reserved the right to resume its protest series in a more vigorous manner than before.
“The entire responsibility for which will fall on the government,” he added.
The Young Doctors Association Balochistan, Pakistan Medical Association (Quetta Zone), and Allied Health Organization expressed deep gratitude to the doctor community, medical centers, media, and the public who supported the legitimate rights of doctors at every stage of this struggle and stood by them fully in difficult circumstances.
The organization reiterated its commitment that the struggle to serve the people and protect the legitimate rights of doctors will continue in the future with full responsibility, unity, and dignity.
