ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will host a two-day Pakistan–China Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Business-to-Business (B2B) Investment Conference on July 17-18, as Islamabad seeks to attract foreign investment and deepen industrial cooperation with Beijing, the government’s Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) said on Monday.
The conference comes as Pakistan pursues economic stabilization under a $7 billion International Monetary Fund (IMF) program. The government has shifted its focus toward boosting industrial output, increasing exports and attracting foreign investment.
China remains Pakistan’s largest strategic economic partner. Beijing has committed more than $65 billion to infrastructure, energy and transport projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Chinese companies have also expanded their presence in Pakistan through manufacturing partnerships and joint ventures.
The investment conference will bring together leading Pakistani pharmaceutical, biotechnology and health care companies with Chinese investors, manufacturers, technology providers and industry executives.
“The conference will bring together leading Pakistani pharmaceutical, health care, and biotechnology companies with Chinese investors, manufacturers, technology providers, and industry leaders,” the SIFC said in a statement.
The event will focus on expanding commercial partnerships and identifying new investment opportunities. It will also promote cross-border business cooperation in the pharmaceutical and health care sectors.
Participants will hold structured business-to-business meetings, networking sessions and investment talks. The discussions will explore joint ventures, technology transfer, contract manufacturing, research collaboration and local production partnerships.
The SIFC said the conference would support efforts to modernize Pakistan’s health care sector while improving the competitiveness of its pharmaceutical industry.
The council described pharmaceuticals and health care as priority sectors because of their potential to drive industrial growth, increase exports, promote technological innovation and create jobs.
