Pakistan strongly condemns Houthi ballistic missile attack on Saudi Arabia

NEW YORK: Pakistan has called for an immediate reduction in tensions across the Middle East, particularly in Yemen, urging all parties to prioritize dialogue, diplomacy, and peaceful negotiations to achieve lasting regional stability.

Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, strongly condemned the ballistic missile attacks launched by the Houthis against Saudi Arabia.

He confirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In this regard, Ambassador Jadoon said Pakistan remains firmly committed to the sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity of Yemen in accordance with the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law.

He stressed that peace and stability in the country can only be achieved through an inclusive political process led by the Yemeni people with the support and facilitation of the United Nations.

The Pakistani envoy urged the international community to intensify efforts aimed at reducing tensions throughout the region and encouraged all stakeholders to exercise restraint, engage in constructive dialogue, and pursue diplomatic solutions instead of further escalation.

Ambassador Jadoon referred to the prisoner exchange agreement as evidence that meaningful progress is possible even under difficult circumstances when parties remain committed to negotiations.

He called on all sides to continue constructive engagement in support of a nationwide ceasefire and a comprehensive political settlement.

The ambassador noted that years of armed conflict, mass displacement, economic hardship, and food insecurity have severely affected millions of civilians.

He warned that any further escalation would only deepen the suffering of the Yemeni people and further complicate humanitarian relief efforts.

Pakistan also expressed concern over the reported arbitrary detention of United Nations personnel, humanitarian workers, and diplomatic staff by the Houthis.
