The Balochistan government has decided to send Dr. Mahnoor Nasir, the lady doctor who was injured in an acid attack in Quetta, abroad for advanced medical treatment and has initiated practical steps to facilitate her transfer.
Shahid Rind, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Balochistan, said that Dr. Mahnoor Nasir will be moved to the United States for further treatment. He added that the government has begun the necessary arrangements and official procedures for her transfer.
According to Rind, Dr. Mahnoor is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Karachi, where she is expected to remain under medical care for another week. Plans are then in place to send her to the United States for specialized treatment.
A few days ago, an assailant threw acid on Dr. Mahnoor Nasir at Sandeman Provincial Hospital in Quetta. The suspect was later killed in an alleged police encounter.
Police said the attack took place in the hospital’s General Surgery Unit.
During the incident, hospital ward boy Abdul Razzaq Tareen was also seriously injured while trying to protect Dr. Mah Noor from the attacker.
Abdul Razzaq Tareen has been receiving treatment in Quetta, while Dr. Mahnoor Nasir was transferred to Karachi for further medical care.
