Storms and Heavy Rain Kill Five, Injure Several Across Punjab

LAHORE: Strong winds and heavy rain swept across Lahore, Faisalabad, and other parts of Punjab, causing deaths, injuries, power outages, and widespread disruption, officials said.

Thunderstorms and torrential rain battered several cities on Thursday. The severe weather disrupted daily life and damaged infrastructure across the province.

In Faisalabad, a house roof collapsed during a thunderstorm, injuring five people. Rescue teams shifted the injured to a hospital for treatment.

In Bahawalnagar, a wall collapse injured three people.

In Chiniot, a lightning strike killed one person and injured another.

Strong winds uprooted trees in Rajanpur, Burewala, Jahaniyan, and other areas. The storms also tripped multiple electricity feeders, disrupting power supply in several districts.

In Lahore, adverse weather conditions affected flight operations. Airport authorities reported delays and operational difficulties during the storm.

Authorities also reported four deaths in separate rain-related incidents in Dera Ismail Khan.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department forecast more rain in the coming days and urged residents to take precautionary measures and avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather conditions.
