RAWALAKOT: The armored personnel carrier (APC) was damaged after coming under intense gunfire during a flag march conducted by law enforcement agencies (LEAs) near Eidgah in Rawalakot on June 14, according to official sources.
The incident occurred while security personnel were carrying out a routine flag march in the area as part of measures aimed at maintaining public order and ensuring security.
During the operation, unidentified individuals reportedly opened fire on the convoy, resulting in significant damage to the leading APC, which belonged to the former Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Police fleet.
Despite the intensity of the firing, the APC successfully withstood the attack, demonstrating the effectiveness of its armored protection. However, the vehicle suffered considerable material damage.
In this regard, both rear tyres of the APC were burst after being struck by gunfire. In addition, around 30 bullet marks were recorded on different parts of the vehicle’s body.
Meanwhile, there is no casualties or injuries among law enforcement personnel were reported immediately after the incident. Authorities have not yet released details regarding the identity of the attackers or the motive behind the firing. The security agencies have launched an investigation and are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The security measures in the area were reportedly enhanced, and law enforcement personnel remained deployed to ensure public safety and maintain order.
