PM Shehbaz Invites PPP to Form Government in Gilgit-Baltistan

ISLAMABAD : Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has invited the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to form the government in Gilgit-Baltistan, announcing that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to sit in the opposition in the GB Assembly.

 

According to details, the PML-N has extended its support to the PPP for forming the government in Gilgit-Baltistan, recognizing that the PPP emerged as the majority party in the region.

 

“Our elected members will vote for the PPP to form the government,” a PML-N statement said. “The decision has been made keeping in mind democratic traditions and values. The PML-N has always maintained a relationship of respect and honor with its allied parties.”

 

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari welcomed the Prime Minister’s statement regarding government formation in Gilgit-Baltistan, calling it a continuation of democratic tradition.

 

“We appreciate the Prime Minister’s positive step of inviting us to form the government,” Bilawal said.

 

Under the understanding, the posts of Governor and Deputy Speaker of Gilgit-Baltistan will be held by the PML-N, while the PPP will lead the government.

 

Bilawal further stated that the PPP will use all its resources to serve the people of Gilgit-Baltistan. “The PPP will ensure the protection of property rights, employment rights, and constitutional rights. The party will discharge its responsibility with grace,” he added.
