ISLAMABAD : Advisor to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah has claimed that the current number game regarding the formation of the government in Gilgit-Baltistan GB will change, with his side expected to gain two or three additional seats.
Speaking on Geo News’ program Capital Talk, Rana Sanaullah said, “The final number game regarding the formation of the government of Gilgit-Baltistan GB will come out on the 15th, and they will get 2 or 3 more seats.” He added that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has not contacted him.
On the same program, PPP’s Nadeem Afzal Chan said his party will get the desired three seats. Meanwhile, PTI’s Shahram Tarakai stated that it would be better if his party remains in the opposition.
Political maneuvering is underway to form the government in GB following the elections. A simple majority of 17 seats is required in the assembly. Currently, the PPP is leading with 10 seats, while independent candidates have 7 and the PML-N has 6 seats.
The PPP is likely to form a government without the PML-N and is considering including independent members. However, final results are awaited after repolling at 26 polling stations in five constituencies, scheduled for June 15.
