Gulf of Oman: 3 Indians Missing After US Strike on Tanker

MUSCAT :  The US Air Force targeted an Indian oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman, leaving three crew members missing while 21 others were rescued, officials said.

 

According to international journal Reuters, US forces disabled the Indian oil tanker with an air strike. The US military stated that the ship had violated the US blockade and was attempting to transfer oil from Iran.

 

The US aircraft targeted the ship’s engine room after the crew failed to follow repeated instructions given by US forces, the report added.

 

A fire broke out on the Indian tanker following the attack. Of the 28 crew members on board, 24 were Indian citizens. Three Indians remain missing.

 

In response, India summoned the deputy head of the US mission in New Delhi and officially registered a strong protest against the US attack on the oil tanker, according to media reports.
