QUETTA : The Balochistan Health Department has suspended 23 doctors and issued show cause notices to 25 officers for violating rules and regulations, participating in strikes, engaging in unregulated activities, and breaching departmental discipline, officials said.
According to a government statement, strikes and closures in human life and health-related institutions are illegal measures, as per the orders of the esteemed judiciary.
In a further crackdown, the registration of five trainee doctors associated with the postgraduate training program has also been suspended, and a formal inquiry has been initiated against them.
Authorities warned that all government health institutions in Balochistan will remain open, and disciplinary action will be taken against employees found absent from essential services.
On the suggestion of senior doctors, the Balochistan government has formed a high-level review committee to review the security situation in health institutions. The committee will include provincial government officers, senior doctors, health department officials, and security officials.
The government stressed that the health sector is directly related to human lives, and any action against public interest or violation of rules and regulations will not be tolerated.
“The Balochistan government is ensuring uninterrupted provision of medical services and institutional discipline,” the statement read. Steps are underway to resolve the legitimate issues of the medical community and improve the health system; however, there will be no compromise on the law and service rules.
Officials added that facts and responsibilities will be determined through transparent and impartial investigations in all cases. The government of Balochistan remains committed to reforms, institutional stability, accountability, and improving the quality of public service in the health sector.
