Lebanese Army Chief Meets Field Marshal Asim Munir to Strengthen Defence Cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Lebanon have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening defense ties and expanding military cooperation during a visit by Lebanese Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief General Rodolphe Haykal to Pakistan Army General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Haykal met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff, at the General Headquarters on Tuesday.

The two military leaders discussed matters of mutual interest, the evolving regional security environment, defense cooperation, and avenues for enhancing bilateral military relations. The talks focused on increasing professional exchanges, training collaboration, and institutional linkages between the armed forces of both countries.

Field Marshal Munir underscored the importance Pakistan attaches to its longstanding and friendly relations with Lebanon and reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s commitment to deepening defense cooperation with the Lebanese Armed Forces.

General Haykal praised the professionalism and operational capabilities of Pakistan’s armed forces and acknowledged their contributions to regional peace, stability, and international peacekeeping missions.

Pakistan and Lebanon maintain longstanding military ties, including cooperation through United Nations peacekeeping operations, with Pakistani troops having served in Lebanon under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

The visit reflects the shared commitment of both countries to further strengthening military-to-military cooperation and defense engagement.
