GILGIT-BALTISTAN : As partial and unconfirmed results from the Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Assembly elections began to emerge, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari declared on Monday that his party is emerging as the single largest political force in the region, vowing to form the next government.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Bilawal said, “It is raining arrows in GB,” a metaphor signifying a series of electoral victories. He expressed sincere gratitude to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan for their trust in the PPP.
“The PPP is emerging as the largest party in Gilgit-Baltistan. We will try to form the government,” the PPP Chairman asserted.
However, it is important to note that these claims are based on completely unconfirmed and unofficial results. So far, results from only 12 out of the total 24 assembly seats have been released.
According to the unofficial count, the PPP has won 7 seats – specifically in GBA constituencies 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11, and 19. Independent candidates have secured 3 seats (GBA 3, 23, and 24). The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has won one seat (GBA 22), and the Majlis-e-Wahdat Muslimeen (MWM) has won one seat (GBA 8).
With counting still underway and the final, official results pending, political observers are closely watching whether the PPP’s early lead translates into a clear majority. The election commission has yet to issue a certified tally.
