Babar Yousafzai Assures Acceptance of Doctors' Demands

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has assured that it will accept all legitimate demands of the protesting doctors.

Speaking to the media, Babar Khan Yousafzai, the Advisor to the Chief Minister on Home Affairs, stated that the government has been in constant contact with the Young Doctors Association since last night.

He confirmed that the victim, Dr. Mahnoor, has been shifted to Karachi for medical treatment, and her vital organs are safe. Meanwhile, the perpetrator behind the horrific incident has already been brought to justice.

According to police sources, the incident took place at the Civil Hospital’s General Surgery Ward, where a lift operator named Humayun Shah, originally from the Nushki district, threw acid on Dr. Mahnoor.

The attack also injured a ward boy named Abdul Razzaq.

Offering context to the incident, Yousafzai mentioned that Dr. Mahnoor might have reprimanded the accused over something, which triggered his violent reaction, though no prior motives for harassment have been uncovered.

The culprit attempted to assault the dignity of our sister, Dr. Mahnoor, but was neutralized within half an hour of the incident.

Addressing the security concerns, the Home Advisor clarified that providing security inside hospital wards is not the police’s responsibility, though security has been actively deployed outside the hospital premises. Describing doctors as an educated segment of society, he urged them to show patience and restraint, maintaining that they should not have any reservations regarding law and order.

He announced that the Chief Minister of Balochistan will personally meet with the doctors on Tuesday as soon as he arrives in Quetta.

Yousafzai emphasized that this is a time for unity rather than playing politics, questioning whether boycotting hospitals could ever solve problems.

He pointed out that the doctors’ strike would only bring immense suffering to innocent patients, reiterating the government’s commitment to resolving their valid grievances.
