ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister’s Office has initiated a formal review of the government’s ongoing austerity campaign and has sought detailed performance reports from all federal ministries and public sector organizations.
The move aims to assess the practical outcomes of recent cost-cutting measures and evaluate overall fiscal savings achieved during the past quarter.
These include financial savings, efficiency improvements, and measurable reductions in operational expenditures across government institutions.
The Prime Minister’s Office has specifically requested detailed figures on fuel savings, maintenance reductions, and other cost benefits resulting from the policy’s implementation.
The Prime Minister’s Office has instructed all relevant institutions to submit their reports within the current month so that a comprehensive assessment of the austerity policy’s implementation and effectiveness can be completed in a timely manner.
The National Assembly Secretariat has already submitted its report to the Prime Minister’s Office, claiming savings of approximately 4.5 billion rupees through its internal austerity measures.
Meanwhile, multiple ministries and government bodies have accelerated their internal data compilation processes in response to the directive, preparing detailed submissions for review by senior authorities.
Government sources indicated that the compiled reports will guide future decisions on the continuation and adjustment of the austerity drive, as well as potential additional measures to further reduce public expenditure.
