Azad Kashmir Elections: PM Convenes Key PPP Parliamentary Party Meeting

ISLAMABAD: A major development has emerged in the parliamentary politics of Azad Kashmir, where Prime Minister Chaudhry Faisal Mumtaz Rathore has convened an urgent and important meeting of the parliamentary party at Zardari House in Islamabad.

According to sources, the key meeting will be held at 6 pm today. The complete parliamentary party of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Azad Kashmir has already reached Islamabad to attend the session.

Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore will chair the meeting himself. It will review the overall political, administrative and security situation in Azad Kashmir and deliberate on future political strategy.

The agenda includes key decisions regarding upcoming elections for the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly, party organisation matters, selection of candidates, distribution of tickets and election campaign planning.

The meeting will also review recent activities of the Public Action Committee and the evolving political situation in the region.

Senior ministers including Mian Abdul Waheed, Sardar Javed Ayub, Bazil Naqvi, Sardar Zia Qamar, Chaudhry Qasim Majeed, Javed Iqbal Budhanvi and Nabila Ayub are expected to attend.

Other leaders including Dewan Ali Khan Chughtai, Malik Zafar, Chaudhry Akhlaq, Yasser Sultan, Chaudhry Arshad and Ali Shan Soni are also likely to participate.

Following the meeting, Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore is scheduled to hold a separate and exclusive meeting with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, where important matters related to the state will be discussed.

Earlier, speaking informally to journalists at Kashmir House in Islamabad, the AJK premier said that strengthening state institutions and the democratic system would be ensured under all circumstances.

He stressed that protecting the political system from any uncertainty was a shared responsibility.

He also urged the public to actively participate in the upcoming elections and fully exercise their right to vote.

During today’s meeting, party members will be briefed in detail on the political narrative and public outreach campaign. The party leadership is expected to brief the media on key decisions afterward.
