WASHINGTON: The United States military has launched new strikes against an Iranian military site that American officials deemed a direct threat to US forces and commercial maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. According to US authorities, the operation was specifically aimed at neutralizing these threats and ensuring the safety of international shipping lanes.
A US official confirmed the operation following reports from the Iranian news agency, Fars, which stated that three explosions were heard east of the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas at approximately 1:30 AM local time. While the exact location and precise nature of the blasts were not immediately clear, the report noted that Bandar Abbas’s air defense systems were briefly activated during the incident.
Furthermore, US officials stated that the American military also successfully shot down multiple Iranian drones during the operation.
