United States President Donald Trump has indicated a softer approach regarding Iran’s enriched uranium, suggesting that its handling could be carried out either through direct transfer to the United States or through coordinated disposal within Iran under mutual arrangements.
In this regard, President Trump said that the enriched uranium would either be immediately handed over to the United States for safe transfer and destruction or, preferably, eliminated at its current location or another mutually agreed site in cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He added that the process would take place under the supervision and presence of the International Atomic Energy Commission or an equivalent regulatory body.
Earlier, while speaking to journalists, President Trump had claimed that Iran had agreed to transfer even its previously damaged enriched uranium to the United States. He also stated that negotiators from both sides were close to finalizing an agreement aimed at ending ongoing tensions and preventing further escalation.
Trump focused on that any final agreement would ensure that Iran is prevented from acquiring nuclear weapons. He further noted that the arrangement would include clear and “satisfactory handling” of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpiles. The United States would only endorse a deal that fully meets its key security requirements.
“I will only sign an agreement where we get everything we want,” Trump said, underscoring his administration’s firm stance on nuclear non-proliferation while simultaneously signaling openness to structured cooperation.
