BEIJING: The PM Shehbaz has shown Pakistan’s desire to strengthen cooperation with China in several key sectors, including the digital economy, information technology, ecommerce, telecommunications, agriculture, renewable energy, and manufacturing.

In this regard, the prime minister said he was grateful to the provincial leadership for the warm welcome extended to him and his delegation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that Pakistan is keen to expand bilateral collaboration with China in modern and emerging sectors that can contribute to economic growth and technological advancement.

He noted that discussions with the leadership of Zhejiang province would focus on increasing cooperation in digital trade, IT development, telecommunications, agricultural innovation, renewable energy projects, manufacturing industries, and skills development initiatives.

The prime minister mentioned the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China, describing the relationship as strong and enduring. He added that both countries are celebrating the completion of 75 years of diplomatic relations, which reflects the deep-rooted partnership and mutual trust shared by the two nations.

In this sense, Shehbaz Sharif further said he was looking forward to meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping and other senior Chinese leaders during the visit.

He confirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening the “iron brotherhood” between the two countries and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors for mutual benefit.

The visit is expected to provide an opportunity for both sides to discuss new avenues of investment, trade, and technological collaboration. Analysts believe that increased cooperation in digital economy and renewable energy could help Pakistan accelerate economic modernization and attract foreign investment.

Pakistan and China have maintained close strategic and economic ties for decades, with cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) continuing to play a central role in bilateral relations.

The prime minister’s visit is being viewed as an important step toward deepening economic engagement and reinforcing diplomatic relations between the two friendly countries.
