KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has removed Deputy Director Ali Mardan from his post following an incident of violence against a trader during a raid in the Saddar Sarafa Bazaar area, responding positively to concerns raised by the business community over alleged misuse of authority.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the Director of FIA Karachi Zone took immediate notice of the incident and ordered legal and departmental action against the officers involved in the violence.
In compliance with these orders, two officers have been suspended. In-charge of FIA Anti-Corruption Circle Karachi, Assistant Director Syed Ali Mardan Shah, was removed from his post and transferred to the headquarters. Additionally, Assistant Director Rabab Qazi has been transferred from FIA ACC and posted to FIA AHTC.
The spokesperson further stated that SHO Anti-Corruption Circle Muhammad Iqbal had already been suspended. A case has also been registered against a private individual involved in slapping a citizen during the incident.
A departmental inquiry has been initiated against all officers and officials present during the raid to ensure a complete, transparent, and impartial review of all aspects of the case.
Notably, a video depicting violence against a shopkeeper during the FIA raid had gone viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage.
