Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has informed its customers across the country that they may experience slower internet services during the coming days due to scheduled submarine cable repair work.
The maintenance work on the submarine cable system will continue from May 11 to May 18. During this period, internet users may face interruptions and reduced browsing speeds, particularly during evening hours when internet usage is usually at its peak.
In this regard, PTCL stated that the repair operation is being carried out in collaboration with an international cable consortium responsible for maintaining global submarine cable infrastructure.
The company explained that the maintenance process is necessary to ensure the long-term stability, reliability, and improved quality of internet services in Pakistan.
The company further noted that temporary disruptions are possible because submarine cables play a vital role in carrying international internet traffic and connecting Pakistan with the global digital network. Any maintenance or repair activity on these systems can affect internet performance for users nationwide.
PTCL assured customers that technical teams would remain engaged throughout the maintenance period to minimize disruptions and restore normal services as quickly as possible. The company also advised users and businesses dependent on internet connectivity to plan their online activities accordingly during the repair schedule.
The announcement comes at a time when millions of people across Pakistan rely heavily on internet services for work, education, business operations, entertainment, and communication. Consumers have been urged to remain patient during the maintenance period as the work is aimed at improving internet stability on a long-term basis.
PTCL reasserted its commitment to providing reliable and high-quality digital services and emphasized that the temporary inconvenience would help ensure better internet performance for customers in the future.
