Pakistan’s Meteorological Department has forecast rain and thunderstorms in Islamabad and several upper parts of the country as a new weather system enters northern regions.
In this regard, rain accompanied by thunder and strong winds is expected in Islamabad during the evening and night hours. The department stated that the changing weather conditions are being caused by a fresh spell of western winds entering the upper parts of the country from today.
The weather department further said that various areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are also likely to receive rain and thunderstorms over the next two days.
The Met Office noted that the weather system is expected to remain active from May 11 to May 13, bringing intermittent rainfall to several northern and hilly areas. The authorities have advised residents, tourists, and travelers to remain cautious, particularly in mountainous regions where heavy rain and strong winds could affect routine activities and road travel.
Meanwhile, despite the expected rain in upper parts of the country, hot and dry weather conditions are likely to persist in the plains of South Punjab and Balochistan.
The department said temperatures in these areas are expected to remain above normal due to continuing dry weather conditions.
The latest weather forecast comes as different parts of the country continue to witness changing climate patterns, with occasional rain spells providing temporary relief from rising temperatures in some regions while heat intensity continues in southern and plain areas.
