Former Pakistan cricket team captain Azhar Ali has been appointed as a consultant for the Scotland national cricket team ahead of the team’s upcoming tour of Nepal.
The announcement was officially made by Cricket Scotland through a formal notification issued on Friday.
In this regard, Azhar Ali will work closely with the Scotland squad in a consultancy role during the Nepal tour. The former Pakistani skipper is expected to provide strategic guidance and share his vast international experience with the players and coaching staff.
Azhar Ali expressed his excitement about joining the Scottish side and said he was looking forward to beginning work with the talented squad. He stated that he had a long-standing connection with Scotland cricket dating back to the early years of his professional career, which made the opportunity even more meaningful for him.
“I am excited to start working with the Scotland team and help the talented group move forward,” Azhar Ali said while reacting to his appointment.
He added that the new role would allow him to contribute positively to the development of the team ahead of important international assignments.
In this sense, Azhar Ali enjoyed a successful international career with the Pakistan cricket team and is regarded as one of the country’s most dependable batters in Test cricket.
During his career, he represented Pakistan in all formats of the game and also captained the national side in Test matches.
