TRUMP: US Pauses ‘Project Freedom’ Against Iran on Pakistan’s Request

Trump Launches ‘Project Freedom’ to Evacuate Ships From Hormuz

WASHINGTON D.C. :  US President Donald Trump has announced that Iran and the United States have agreed to temporarily suspend “Project Freedom” – a military-backed initiative to escort commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz – following requests from Pakistan and other countries.

In a statement released on his platform, Truth Social, President Trump said the decision comes in light of “extraordinary military success” achieved during the campaign against Iran, as well as progress made toward a final agreement with Iranian representatives.

“It has been mutually agreed that while the blockade will remain in full force, Project Freedom – the project to transport ships through the Strait of Hormuz – will be temporarily suspended,” the President said. He added that the purpose of this pause is to examine whether the proposed agreement can be finalized and signed.

What is Project Freedom?

Project Freedom was designed to protect global commercial ships and crews passing through the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments. President Trump had previously warned that if Iran obstructed US ships or relief operations under this project, it would face severe consequences. Under the same initiative, the US military had also targeted Iranian “fast boats” in the strait. The plan was introduced after Iran rejected new proposals aimed at ending the ongoing war
