TEHRAN: Last week in Islamabad, after inconclusive peace talks with the United States, the Pakistan Air Force provided a major security escort to the Iranian negotiating delegation on their return journey to Iran.
According to Reuters, the Iranians feared a possible Israeli attack.
In response, the Pakistan Air Force deployed approximately two dozen fighter jets, including Chinese-made J-10C aircraft, along with Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft to escort the delegation safely from Islamabad.
Pakistani sources said a similar level of security could be provided in the future if requested.
The Iranian delegation did not make a formal request for escort, but Pakistan insisted on providing protection as a precaution after the Iranians raised concerns about a potential Israeli strike.
The Iranian aircraft did not land in Tehran, and the exact landing location remains unclear.
