Islamabad on High Alert for Second Round Peace Talks

ISLAMABAD: The federal capital is once again set to become the hub of major international diplomatic activity as preparations for the second round of peace talks have entered their final stages.

According to sources, security has been placed on high alert in anticipation of the arrival of American and Iranian delegations.

Police contingents have been called in large numbers from 10 districts of Punjab, with nearly 18,000 security personnel to be deployed across Islamabad.

The extended Red Zone will be completely sealed off, while strict security arrangements are being made around five-star hotels, convention centers, and key government and diplomatic sites.

A comprehensive traffic plan has also been finalized, under which several major roads will be closed. A special media center will be established with restricted access for journalists.

Due to security concerns, the suspension of mobile services is also under consideration, and there is a strong possibility of local holidays being announced in the city during the talks.

A detailed report regarding the arrangements will be presented upon the Prime Minister’s return to the country.
