MUZAFFARABAD: Inspector General of Police Azad Jammu, Captain (R) Liaqat Ali Malik, said during a press conference that Rawalakot police have arrested an agent working for the Indian intelligence agency RAW in a timely operation.
According to the IG, the arrested suspect, identified as Irfan, had been conducting reconnaissance of sensitive locations and sending videos and information to his handlers. He said the suspect was also involved in planning attacks on military installations and educational institutions.
Liaqat Ali Malik said the effective police action foiled the enemy’s designs and exposed a wider network during the operation.
He reaffirmed that Azad Kashmir police will ensure peace and security in the region at all costs and will not allow any hostile agenda to succeed.
The IG further revealed that the suspect was in contact with RAW through social media and was sharing sensitive information about key locations. He said hostile elements were systematically identifying important sites to undermine state security.
He added that the suspect was also involved in planning attacks on civilians, but timely action by police averted the threat. He said operations against such elements will continue without discrimination.
Liaqat Ali Malik said the sanctity of Azad Kashmir’s territory will not be compromised and security institutions will continue to take all necessary measures to ensure peace and stability.
It is worth noting that three days earlier, Pakistan’s security agencies arrested three individuals involved in espionage for RAW during a successful intelligence-based operation. The arrested suspects were linked to districts including Narowal and Bahawalpur in Punjab and Rawalakot in Azad Kashmir.
