QUETTA: Authorities suspended five police personnel after a murder-accused prisoner escaped from a hospital in Balochistan’s capital, officials said on Tuesday.
Police said the prisoner, identified as Taj Muhammad, fled from the Balochistan Medical Complex (BMC) Hospital where he was under treatment.
Officials said Taj Muhammad had been transferred from Loralai Jail for medical care. He was facing charges in a murder case, police added.
Authorities suspended a security in-charge, Sub-Inspector Munawar Ahmed, and four other personnel over negligence in duty.
The DIG Loralai formed an inquiry committee headed by a superintendent of police to investigate the incident.
Police said a case has been registered at Brewery police station against the suspended personnel. They added that a separate case has also been registered against the escaped prisoner, and a search operation is underway.
