TEHRAN: According to Iranian media, the United States has begun enforcing a maritime blockade on Iranian ports starting today.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that naval routes to and from Iran’s ports are now under official restrictions.
The move came after an announcement by former US President Donald Trump and took effect on April 13 at 10 AM (Eastern Time).
Under these measures, ships from around the world will be restricted from accessing Iranian ports and coastal areas.
According to CENTCOM, the restrictions apply to Iranian ports located in the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman.
However, global shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz will remain open, ensuring uninterrupted passage for vessels traveling to ports in other countries.
US officials emphasized that freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz will continue, although Iranian-linked maritime activities will be closely monitored.
