14 Years Since Gyari Sector Tragedy

RAWALPINDI: Fourteen years have passed since the tragic Gyari Sector incident, in which 129 soldiers of the Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom.

The nation today pays tribute to these heroes and honors their sacrifice.

On April 7, 2012, a devastating avalanche struck at the Siachen front, burying a battalion headquarters under snow and claiming the lives of a large number of troops deployed for the country’s defense.

The scale of the disaster was so severe that even foreign rescue teams declared the mission nearly impossible.

However, driven by patriotism, the Pakistan Army’s Engineers Corps undertook the challenging rescue operation and successfully completed it through relentless effort and bravery.

A memorial has since been built at the Siachen front to honor the martyrs, whose sacrifices remain an unforgettable part of Pakistan’s history.
