Karezat District Demand: Sit-in Ends in Khanozai

QUETTA: The sit-in protest at Khanozai demanding the creation of Karezat as a new district has been called off after successful negotiations between the government committee and the protesters’ committee.

A government delegation led by Balochistan’s Provincial Minister for Home Affairs and Chairman of the Negotiating Committee, Mir Ziaullah Langau, visited the protest site in Khanozai to hold talks on the Karezat issue.

Following assurances from the government negotiating committee, the protesters announced they would postpone their agitation for 10 days.

The government committee includes Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar, Opposition Member of the Provincial Assembly Asghar Tareen, Bilal Kakar, Quetta Commissioner, and Deputy Commissioner Pishin.

Representatives from various political and religious parties, along with tribal elders, also participated in the negotiations.

The government committee held direct talks with the protest leaders regarding the demand to make Karezat a district.

Addressing the protesters, Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langau said the government wants the Karezat issue to be resolved amicably and appealed to the demonstrators to end the sit-in and cooperate with the committee.

He added that the people of Karezat are part of us, which is why the government delegation came to the site. The government will ensure that the recommendations prepared by the negotiating committee are implemented.

The minister stated that the government committee and the protesters’ committee will jointly deliberate on making Karezat a district.
