ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday expressed concern after falling debris from an intercepted projectile caused injuries to four nationals, including three Pakistanis, at a UAE port, stressing the need for de-escalation amid surging tensions in the Middle East.
The Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported on Sunday that four individuals, including three Pakistanis and a Nepalese national, were injured by falling debris at the Khorfakkan Port after UAE air defense systems intercepted a projectile.
WAM said the Pakistani nationals suffered “minor to moderate injuries” in the incident. The Sharjah Government Media Bureau, in a separate statement, confirmed that a fire had broken out at the port which had been contained by emergency rescue teams.
“Deeply concerned at the incident at Khor Fakkan port in the UAE, where an intercepted projectile caused injuries to civilians, including Pakistani nationals,” Sharif wrote on social media platform X.

He prayed for the swift recovery of the injured, saying that Pakistan was in close contact with UAE authorities to extend necessary support to its citizens.
“Pakistan stands in solidarity with the brotherly people of the UAE and reiterates the urgent need for restraint and de-escalation in the region,” the Pakistani premier said.
At least four Pakistani nationals have been killed by falling debris in the UAE since the US-Israel war began against Iran in February.
Iran has fired a barrage of missiles and carried out drone attacks against the UAE and other Gulf states since the war began. Iran has struck economic targets in Gulf countries that it claims are linked to the US-Israeli war effort.
Pakistan has condemned Iran’s attacks targeting Gulf states and urged all parties to the conflict to resolve their issues through dialogue and diplomacy.
