Prominent Urologist Critically Injured in Attack in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Renowned urologist Professor Dr. Asif Malik was critically injured in a shooting by unknown assailants in Peshawar.

The incident occurred late Tuesday night.

Police said Dr. Malik, who hails from Kohat and serves as chairman of the Cardiology Hospital and Peshawar General Hospital, was returning home from his clinic when gunmen on a car opened fire in Circular Lane, University Town.

Dr. Malik sustained serious injuries and was immediately transferred to his hospital for urgent medical treatment, where he remains under care.

Police recovered three empty 30-bore pistol shells from the scene.

A case was registered at Town Police Station, filed by the victim’s son, Yousaf Asif.

Authorities have launched an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage. Special teams have been formed to track and apprehend the suspects.
