Motorway entry closed, reason revealed

ISLAMABAD: The authorities have temporarily suspended the entry of passenger vehicles on the motorway connecting Peshawar to Islamabad following heavy rainfall that has created hazardous driving conditions.

The decision was taken in the interest of public safety. The continuous rain has significantly reduced visibility and increased the risk of skidding on the roadway, making travel unsafe for commuters.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a nationwide alert, warning of potential rain, snowfall, and flooding in various parts of the country.

The authority has urged provincial administrations and emergency services to remain vigilant and take necessary preparedness measures to respond to any untoward incidents.

So far, a spokesperson for Islamabad police reported that intermittent rainfall continues in the federal capital.

In this sense, the authorities have reiterated their appeal to the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies, follow traffic advisories, and prioritize safety during adverse weather conditions.
