BERLIN: German Foreign Minister Joachim Wadefeihl has revealed that representatives from the United States and Iran are expected to meet in Pakistan soon. The meeting aims to reduce tensions and advance possible negotiations between the two countries.

In an interview with German Radio, Wadefeihl said that Washington and Tehran have so far maintained indirect contact. “Preparations for a direct meeting are now complete, and Pakistan is expected to host this important session,” he added.

The announcement comes as U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, confirmed Pakistan’s central role as a mediator. He said positive messages have already been exchanged between the U.S. and Iran through Islamabad.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Information Minister Atta Tarar have also confirmed the country’s active diplomatic efforts. They said Islamabad is facilitating dialogue to reduce regional tensions and pave the way for negotiations.
