Dhaka: At least 18 people have died after a passenger bus plunged into the Padma River in Bangladesh.
According to local media, the accident occurred on Wednesday evening.
Rescue officials stated that the bus, carrying around 50 passengers, lost control while being loaded onto a ferry at approximately 5 PM.
The vehicle sank into water about 30 feet deep.
Some passengers were rescued, but 18 lost their lives, including women.
The rescued passengers were taken to the hospital for immediate medical care.
Authorities reported that a few passengers remain missing, and divers are involved in recovery efforts.
Stormy winds and heavy rain in the area have complicated the rescue operations.
