The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast widespread rainfall and thunderstorms across the country from March 24 to March 30.
The weather system is expected to bring varying intensities of rain, including heavy falls, hailstorms, and snowfall in northern regions.
In this regard, the Met Office, a western disturbance is likely to enter southwestern parts of Balochistan on the evening or night of March 24. The system is expected to intensify by March 27 and may persist until March 31, affecting multiple regions across the country.
In Balochistan, rain accompanied by wind and thunderstorms, with occasional heavy falls and isolated hailstorms, is expected in several districts including Quetta, Gwadar, Turbat, Khuzdar, and Chaman. These conditions are likely to occur from March 24 (evening) to March 25 (night), and again from March 27 (night) to March 29 (morning), with occasional gaps.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also expected to experience rain and thunderstorms, with snowfall over hilly areas such as Chitral, Swat, and Kohistan. The initial spell is forecast from March 25 (night) to March 26 (morning), followed by a more widespread phase from March 28 to March 30. Isolated hailstorms may also occur during this period.
In Punjab, including major cities such as Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad, rain and thunderstorms with chances of hail are predicted from March 25 to March 26 (morning), and again from March 28 (evening) to March 30. Similar weather conditions are expected in Islamabad, Murree, and the Galiyat region.
Sindh is also likely to receive rain and thunderstorms in areas such as Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Larkana on March 25–26 and again from March 28 to March 29.
Meanwhile, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir are expected to witness rain and snowfall in mountainous areas during similar periods.
The PMD has also cautioned that heavy rainfall may trigger flash floods in parts of Balochistan between March 25 and 28, and in local streams of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from March 28 to 30.
