TEHRAN: Iran has issued a strong and clear response regarding the growing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, holding the United States and Israel responsible for the disruption of maritime traffic in the strategically vital waterway.
In this regard, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the obstacles affecting the movement of ships in the Strait of Hormuz are a direct consequence of a conflict initiated by the United States and Israel.
He rejected accusations against Iran, stating that blaming Tehran for the current situation is contrary to facts.
“The disruptions in maritime navigation are not of Iran’s making but stem from actions taken by external forces,” Araghchi stated.
He focused on that Iran will not be intimidated by threats and remains committed to safeguarding its national interests through all necessary measures.
The foreign minister further noted that the uncertainty and instability in the region are being fueled by those powers that continue to escalate tensions.
In this regard, a separate statement issued by Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reasserted the same position, asserting that the United States and Israel bear direct responsibility for the increased tensions and the increasingly dangerous conditions in the Strait of Hormuz.
The ministry warned that continued escalation could have serious implications for regional and global stability.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump issued a warning to Iran, stating that if the Strait of Hormuz is not fully reopened for maritime traffic within 48 hours, a strong response could follow.
The statement has further intensified concerns about a potential escalation in the already fragile situation.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical maritime routes, through which a significant portion of global oil supply passes.
