US Counterterrorism Chief resigns over Iran war policy

WASHINGTON: The Director of the U.S. National Counterterrorism Center, Joseph Kent (also referred to as Joe Kent), has resigned from his position amid disagreements over the ongoing war with Iran.

According to sources, Kent submitted his resignation citing that the United States faced no significant threat from Iran, opposing the decision to initiate or escalate military action against the country.

This resignation has created major concerns for the White House and the Pentagon.

On one hand, key allies appear to be distancing themselves or reconsidering support for the U.S. On the other, a wave of resignations from senior government officials has sparked serious questions about the U.S. strategy of imposing war on Iran.
