TEHRAN:Iran has firmly rejected recent claims by former US President Donald Trump that Tehran had reached out to Washington seeking a deal. The sharp denial from Tehran comes amid heightened tensions following major regional events.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi directly refuted the reports of any communication with the United States. In a strongly worded statement, Araqchi declared, “There was no ceasefire, no negotiations, and no call to the US.”
The Foreign Minister also responded in a firm tone when questioned about the possibility of US military boots on Iranian soil. He warned of severe consequences, stating that Iran is prepared and that any such action would result in a “great disaster” for the United States.
Adding another layer to the diplomatic discourse, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian acknowledged that some countries have initiated mediation efforts. However, he stressed that such efforts should be directed at the US and Israel, whom he accused of inciting the current conflict. “We want lasting peace in the region,” President Pezeshkian stated.
The Iranian rebuttal comes a day after the former US president claimed that Iran had called seeking a deal, but that it was “too late now.”
