ISLAMABAD: Flight operations affected by tensions in the Middle East are gradually resuming, aviation sources said.
Sources said Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has received clearance to operate two flights to the United Arab Emirates. One flight will depart for Dubai and another for Abu Dhabi.
Authorities had earlier granted PIA permission to operate flights to the Saudi city of Dammam.
However, sources said flights to Dammam have been temporarily suspended after a missile attack in Bahrain.
PIA flights to Jeddah, Riyadh and Medina continue to operate normally.
Flights bound for Saudi Arabia are currently flying over the Arabian Sea and reaching their destination via Yemen, the sources said.
Sources added that PIA flights to Europe and Canada face restrictions due to the closure of Iranian airspace.

As a result, flights to Europe and Canada are using an alternative route through the Wakhan Corridor in Afghanistan before continuing to their destinations.
